What is Hastelloy?
The Hastelloy abbreviation is used in the metal industry mostly instead of using the full form nickel-chromium molybdenum alloys. The Hastelloy alloy chemical composition contains molybdenum, chromium, iron, tungsten, cobalt, manganese, copper, vanadium, phosphorus, silicon and sulfur. There are different grades of this Hastelloy. As per grade chemical composition of Hastelloy is different. This Hastelloy is a multi-purpose alloy.
Why is Hastelloy grade C22 used?
This Hastelloy C22 contains nickel, chromium and molybdenum and a small number of other elements. These elements make alloy stronger than stainless steel. This alloy shows resistance to most reducing environments and oxidizing agents. This alloy contains tungsten. This element increase resistance to pitting crevice stress corrosion. This alloy has a high density.
Hastelloy C22 Sheet :
These sheets show resistance to SCC stress corrosion cracking. These sheets have superior weld-ability, so common filler welds are used to join these sheets. These have good thermal stability also good work-ability against corrosive environments. These sheets possess resistance to corrosion due to cracking.
Furthermore, this product is coated with SATIN and bright black polish that provides extra resistance to corrosion. These also resist distortion due to impact loads.
