Why NITINOL STRIPS are useful?
Those strips heat and set into the superelastic situation at the time of manufacturing. Nitinol is a nickel-titanium metal alloy with unique properties, including pseudoelasticity and “shape memory” properties. This means that nitinol can remember its original shape and return to it when heated. These strips also show excellent elasticity under stress. The unique property of Nitinol is its ability to change phases in the occurrence of temperature changes. The two most important phases are known under the terms “martensite” and “austenite”. The Transformation between these two phases is due to heat or mechanical stress, making nitinol a dynamic compound that shows shape memory and superelasticity.
