Kovar alloy is a nickel steel base alloy. It shows specific thermal expansion properties. It is known for its low thermal expansion quality because of its compatibility to heat-resistant glass. It is composed of elements like iron, nickel, cobalt, silicon, manganese and also carbon. This chemical composition shows narrow limits that are very controlled to ensure optimal thermal expansion compatibility of the kovar sheet. This sheet can be fabricated through a variety of heat treating processes, including annealing and forging. However, high temperature is not demanded while doing the annealing process.
